THE GREATEST GIFTS WE CAN GIVE OUR CHILDREN ARE THE ROOTS OF RESPONSIBILITY AND THE WINGS OF INDEPENDENCE.”

Why Luma?

INDIVIDUALIZES LEARNING

At Luma, children receive unique learning experiences that build upon their prior knowledge. This ensures each child is appropriately challenged and never frustrated or bored. Through our personal assessments, we continually adapt and adjust assignments and prepared environments to best benefit each child and their learning style, ability, and motivations.

STUDENT-CENTERED PEDAGOGY

Providing children the freedom and choice to pick their own learning experiences in a prepared environment allows them to uncover their passions. Their choices reveal their interests, their strengths, and even opportunities for growth. Teachers act as facilitators that guide the learning journey and provide the appropriate assistance while allowing each child to direct their own learning.

Measuring What Matters

We start by getting to know each child’s background and abilities, which allows us to create a baseline for their learning journey. Then we add a consistent assessment of each child’s progress, coalescing around a personal learning plan, which also allows parents to clearly know and support their child’s learning at home. On-going and frequent check-ins provide valuable information, allowing us to customize curriculum and celebrate the success of each child at Luma Montessori.

SPACES THAT INSPIRE LEARNING

Our classrooms are carefully curated learning spaces where everything has a role and function. There is a distinct sense of order which assists children in developing logical thought processes. Within this space, children are free to follow their interests, choose their work, and progress at their own pace. Luma spaces inspire authentic learning.

CAREER EDUCATORS IN EVERY CLASSROOM

Every Luma Montessori teacher is a career educator and Montessori trained and certified. Together, that means they are experts in both educating children and in how this particular type of education unfolds. They also undertake regular professional development to keep their skills sharp and relevant to our ever-changing educational landscape. By controlling the environment—not the children—Luma teachers serve as trusted guides and mentors to each child’s emerging intellect.
